Events

Macro Events - Hold online fundraisers  or "auctions" on that are large once and give away high-priced items, publicized by bigger name people once or twice a year. These do not have to be online events as publicity is made and tickets can be sold online. A large event does not have to be a party, it can be large conferences like a TEDx (show left), online contests, online auctions or art shows that people can buy from later. These events require more of your time and resourcs so only recommend doing it once a year, or two depending on your team's bandwith.

Micro Events - These are smaller events that can be held by a supporter/donor/beneficiary, by a business, family member, friend or any other person from your network. The idea is that your staff only lightly supports this event and the "host" runs the show. This could be in the form of an auction, facebook event, book, art or any kind of special "sale", virtual trip or tour somewhere and more.

See Habitat for humanity's social media step-by-step guide here on how to publicize any event online.

Rachel Roberts a new fitness studio owner was thrilled at the opportunity to hold a "ladies special" fundraising event at her venue for my sister's Team in Training for LL&S. Numerous online tools will help you invite, collect donations and promote your event easily, and Rachel is thrilled because she gets free publicity on and offline (like the Morning Show in Boston here!).
